Services and uses
For candidate comparisons or unexpected binding results, Pavonis provides VICA™ pilot and service studies to examine binding, specificity and kinetics in selected solid-phase and solution-phase assays. Your team can compare those measurements with existing results to identify molecules or experimental conditions for further investigation.
When several candidates need further assessment, comparing their binding under the same conditions gives your team a basis for selection. Binding measurements and relative affinity ranking can then help identify which molecules to characterize in more detail.
Binding to the intended target is one part of a candidate’s assessment. By examining selected additional targets or the effect of competing interactions, a VICA™ study can identify cross-binding and competition that warrant investigation.
Candidates with similar endpoint binding responses can differ in their association rate (kon), dissociation rate (koff) or binding affinity (KD). Where the assay supports these measurements, those differences provide another basis for comparison.
An interaction observed under one set of conditions may need examination at another pH, ionic strength or temperature. Selected VICA™ studies allow those comparisons, including changes in sample matrix, so your team can investigate binding under conditions relevant to its research.
For targets or measurements that need a custom assay, Pavonis first reviews whether VICA™ can provide a suitable approach. That technical assessment determines the development work proposed.
How a study runs
An outline of your research question, targets, candidates and available sample types, followed by samples once handling arrangements are confirmed
The agreed VICA™ assays, controls and comparisons across the selected experimental conditions
The specified binding measurements and analysis, with reporting agreed before work begins
The study proposal sets out the assay formats, sample preparation and handling, measurements, analysis and reporting, timing and price. Available outputs may include candidate binding, specificity, kinetics, affinity or comparisons across sample conditions. Your team can use those results to shortlist candidates or investigate differences in binding across candidates and conditions; biological function and therapeutic efficacy require additional investigation. Begin with a non-confidential description of the work. Before proprietary information or samples are exchanged, we agree on confidentiality and material-handling arrangements.
Pilot
A pilot lets your team evaluate VICA™ in an initial study before commissioning additional work. To assess the method before discussing your own samples, you can review the published research and the anonymized examples in our data package.
Get in touch
Send a description of the target, measurements and available samples so we can discuss suitable assays and prepare a study proposal. Because Pavonis performs the service study, your team can evaluate VICA™ without purchasing an instrument.
