To examine how VICA™ works, start with the published methods and the experiments in which the platform has been used. The example data below illustrate its readouts and assay formats, while company updates describe research installations and completed projects.

Publications

Published VICA™ research

A quantitative, label-free visual interference colour assay platform for protein targeting and binding assays

Published in npj Biosensing in December 2024, this study demonstrated how VICA™ can measure protein interactions without fluorescent or enzymatic labels.

Apolipoprotein-A1 transports and regulates MMP2 in the blood

In this investigation of apolipoprotein A1 and matrix metalloproteinase-2, researchers used VICA™ to examine binding between the proteins. Those measurements were combined with other experimental methods in reaching the study’s broader biological findings.

First-Generation Radiolabeled Cyclic Peptides for Molecular Imaging of Platelet-Derived Growth Factor Receptor α

The researchers investigated cyclic peptides targeting PDGFRA, using VICA™ for binding assessment within the broader experimental program. Its contribution was the binding measurement; the imaging work used other methods.

Example data

Example assay data

The data below are anonymized examples that illustrate the readouts and assay formats in a typical VICA™ experiment.

Example analyteAssay formatExample KD

Alongside these example binding-affinity values (KD), the package includes association and dissociation rates (kon and koff) and model-fit information for applicable assays. To discuss similar measurements for your samples, contact Pavonis with the target and assay requirements.

Updates

Company and research updates

9Bio uses experimental measurements of engineered antibodies to inform its AI-driven optimization program. Its traditional binding systems required specialist equipment and trained operators, adding time and cost to the work.

Pavonis’s label-free protein interaction technology is available to researchers through MolScreen at the University of Alberta.

A cattle-health study tested VICA™ in field conditions to measure an inflammation marker associated with respiratory disease.

Intellectual property

Intellectual property inquiries

Contact Pavonis for information about the scope and status of VICA™’s intellectual property as part of a company or technology evaluation.
