CROs
Characterizing a client’s candidates can consume substantial time and material before the team knows which interactions warrant further study. A fee-for-service VICA™ study provides selected binding, specificity, affinity or kinetic measurements that your CRO can use to guide that selection. With the assays and reporting agreed, your team can interpret the analysis alongside existing results and decide where further characterization is needed.

The scoped VICA™ assays, controls and analysis
The agreed results and reporting for interpretation within the wider client program
Start with a non-confidential outline. We review assay feasibility and agree on outputs, timing, price and confidentiality arrangements before confirming sample preparation and shipping. Frozen or dry-ice shipment may be appropriate for some specimens.
Pavonis is responsible for the agreed VICA™ work while your team manages the wider client program. The measurements help your team decide where subsequent characterization is needed.
Method review
To assess VICA™ for a client program, your team can examine the published methods and anonymized assay examples. A service study then offers a way to evaluate those measurements without purchasing an instrument.
The current platform is manually operated, which places automated thousand-compound campaigns outside its capabilities; specialist low-picomolar measurements also require other methods. Within these limits, the available outputs, timing and sample requirements depend on the assay.
Client studies
Where an early binding comparison is sufficient to exclude a candidate from further work, your team can reserve more expensive characterization for the remaining molecules. A VICA™ study tests selected candidates under the same conditions to support that choice; the measurements required determine where it fits in the client program.
An assay that does not suit a client’s target or sample conditions can limit the questions your CRO is able to investigate. Pavonis reviews whether selected solid-phase, solution-phase or matrix studies can provide the additional measurements. Comparing those findings with existing results helps your team investigate the interaction while retaining its established methods.
The study proposal identifies the measurements your team will receive, which may include candidate comparisons, specificity and competition results, or binding affinity (KD) and kinetics (kon and koff) where supported. We confirm the analysis, reporting requirements and outputs with your team before work begins.
Send a non-confidential description of the candidate comparison or assay problem, the methods already in use and the timing and reporting requirements. We can then assess suitable VICA™ assays and propose work your team can evaluate against the client’s study needs and budget. Proprietary information and samples can follow once the relevant arrangements are agreed.
